Choosing to live simply, tending the garden, loving the homelife, incorporating creativity and following the peaceful example of two cats in our yard.
I never had any other desire so strong, and so like to covetouseness, as that one which I have had always, that I might be master at last of a small house and a large garden.

Visit with Santa 1948
With a far away look and the magic of Christmas this picture of my brother is a snapshot of a simpler time. Sixty years ago there was less of everything. Less "stuff", less rushing, less technology, less money (or maybe less debt), less television, less traffic, less expectations. There was more of some things too. More time for family, more sitting around a table and talking to each other, more live music in the home, more home cooked meals, more time to be bored , more time to use your imagination to entertain yourself, more crafting, more making do, more walking where you had to go. Just a thought or two about days gone by - and maybe an inspiration to slow down, and take a breath and just be.
